ALEXANDROS 11 : The path you never walked.
Stamatis Spanoudakis
On the 22nd and 23rd of September 2007, Stamatis Spanoudakis presented his new work, Alexander : "Paths you neer walked" at the Herodion Atticus Theatre in Athens. It was also performed at the opening of the Cultural Olympiad in Beijing, China on the 19th of October 2007. The work was written for large symphony orchestra, and Greek and Chinese folk instruments.
It was performed by the ERT Symphony Orchestra and choir.
Most of my photographic work in Greece was inspired by the music of Stamatis Spanoudakis. I first heard it in Santorini in 1994 and it has never left me. His music is the best selling modern instrumental music in Greece. Every disc becomes platinium and he has become a legend in his own time. He lives in the suburbs of Athens with his wife and his 5 dogs. I had the privilege to be invited in June 2001 to his concerts at the Herodion Atticus theatre near the Acropolis. Some photos I took at the dress rehearsal are shown here. He told me that his inspiration comes from Verdi and the Beatles. His music is a mixture between Rock, Classical, Byzantine and Holy music. If you are a music lover, you will love his music.
